About Equireel

Equireel is an equine media company specializing in the sport of Eventing, with a particular focus on the cross country phase. We place a network of cameras at each obstacle across a 5km course to capture every rider at every fence.

Position Overview

This is a freelance/contractor role suited to individuals who can start as soon as possible and are comfortable traveling to different locations (primarily on weekends). After the training period you’ll be the main (and often sole) Equireel representative on-site, responsible for setting up, monitoring, and packing down our cameras throughout each event.

Responsibilities

      • Travel to equestrian venues (mostly Thu–Sun, with occasional midweek events).

      • Meet with organizers upon arrival; coordinate camera placement.

      • Set up tripods and cameras on Friday afternoon (or Thursday if needed).

      • Monitor and maintain cameras during competition on Saturday and Sunday:
            • Get cameras live before the first horse.

            • Troubleshoot and reposition as needed (e.g., course changes).

            • Bring cameras in at the end of each day and save footage to our PC.

        • Pack down equipment on Sunday (or Monday if travel requires).

        • Independently handle all Equireel operations on-site post-training.

      What to Expect

          • Long Days: Eventing days can run from early morning through late evening, requiring sustained focus.

          • Physically Demanding: Setting up and moving camera equipment over a 5km course involves walking, bending, lifting, and operating a quad/trailer.

          • Weekend-Focused: Around 90% of events happen Thursday–Sunday, leaving room for other work during the week.

          • Immediate Start: We’re looking for applicants who can begin training and event work as soon as possible.

        Compensation & Benefits

            • $800–$1000 per event (negotiable based on experience).

            • Company Equipment: All cameras, tripods, plus a company van, quad, and trailer.

            • Accommodation: Hotel costs covered for all events.

            • Fuel: Fuel card provided for event-related travel.

            • Freelance Flexibility: Work as an independent contractor while potentially maintaining another job.

          Ideal Candidate

              • Comfortable with Travel: Often overnight (hotel provided).

              • Driver’s License: Able to drive our van, operate the quad, and tow the trailer.

              • Self-Starter & Reliable: Capable of managing on-site tasks without supervision.

              • Organized & Detail-Oriented: Ensuring all camera setups and footage backups run smoothly.

              • Equestrian Experience is a bonus but not required (we provide full camera training).
